MEASUREMENT PROBLEMS IN RESEARCH ON UNSTABLE COMBUSTION OF SOLID ROCKET PROPELLANTS

Abstract

Several measurement problems which have been encountered in a long-range U. S. Navy research program on solid propellant combustion instability are discussed. Topics included are: (a) behavior of several types of high-frequency response pressure gages, (b) difficulties in detecting high-frequency pressure oscillations, (c) techniques in recording and storing detected data, and (d) methods used in recovery and analysis of recorded data.
