THE DETERMINATION OF PLASMA PROPERTIES BY RADIATION TECHNIQUES: A SURVEY

Abstract

A two-part survey is presented of radiation techniques currently employed in the diagnosis of higher temperature plasmas. The techniques treated are (1) the thermal or black-body radiation measurements; and (2) the line broadening of certain spectral lines. Historical, as well as theoretical backgrounds are included. Definitions, typical applications, and limits of reliability are discussed. An extensive bibliography, part of which is annotated, is included. (Author)
