CERMET ELEMENT RESISTOR REFINEMENT PROGRAM

Abstract

The extensive qualification testing performed on the three styles of variable resistor controls incorporating the cermet element has demonstrated in general that the test requirements of WCLK 58-40 can be met. Test results on Rotational Load Life at reduced wattage and 200 degrees C and Load Life at reduced wattage and 200 degrees C are somewhat marginal since these were the only tests which exceeded the number of defectives allowed on WCLK 58-40. It is therefore concluded that Rotational Load Life and Load Life at 200 degrees C tests must be incorporated as a quality control measure during the production phase of the contract. The construction and testing of greater number of components will produce statistically more valid information on reliability, reproducibility, stability, and yield. (Author)
