AZUSA TRANSPONDER TYPE C, ASSOCIATED TEST EQUIPMENT, AND SUPPORT DOCUMENTS

Abstract

This report describes the development of the Azusa Type C Transponder, special test equipment, test programs, product field support, service engineering training programs, and transponder performance. A brief discussion of the circumstancs which led to the program is included. A list of technical personnel and approximate amount of time utilized on the program are presented. Tests, equipment used, and test set-ups are explained and supported by graphs and test data. A history of early transponders, with a pictorial comparison, shows the progress in transponder development. The relationship f the transponder to the Azusa system is discussed along with a detaile di cussion of the transponder operation. The development of the electronic design of each of the subassemblies is presented, together with the problems encountered and their solutions. Subassembly principles of operation, analysis, and their mutual relationships are given. Problems associated wit progress of the project are covered; associated publications relating to original schedules are referenced. Field service programs are outlined together with a resume of transponder performance. (Author)
