DISTRIBUTION OF ELECTRONS IN THE F REGION

Abstract

Electron density measurements throughout the F region of the ionosphere are discussed. The measurements were made by the incoherent backscatter technique at the Millstone Hill Radar Facility. Most of the observations were made late in 1960, and all of them were made during the daytime. The shape of the profiles obtained is examined in relation to current theories for the ionosphere, and it is found that the observed profiles in general have a form predicted by the theory presented by Yonezawa (Radio Res. Labs., Japan, 7:355, 1960.) (Author)
