FIELD EMISSION RESEARCH

Abstract

A qualitative study of surface migration of tungsten atoms on tungsten under high electrical stress was carried out. This study involved the observation of the changes in the field emission pattern of a tungsten emitter when operated under high temperature and high dc field conditions. Further development of an automatic ring counter for use as a tool in surface migration studies was carried out and such a ring counter was incorporated into the surface migration work at this laboratory.
