STAPLES MOBILIZATION: EXPERIENCE IN THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE

Abstract

This paper reviews results of 151 stapes mobilization operations on 94 patients. For patients on whom followup data were available, improvement in hearing seemed to be well maintained for a 6-month period. Although it was note that operations performed on oth ears of a patient tended to have similar results, the tendency was not statistically significant. Finally, there was considerable evidence that successful operations were proportionately higher in patients requiring surgery on only one ear. A further study is being conducted to obtain additional followup information for the entire sample. (Author)
