INVESTIGATION OF THE FEASIBILITY OF WELDING MOLYBDENUM SHEET WITH A DEOXIDIZING AND GRAIN-REFINING FLUX

Abstract

Experiments were made to evaluate the feasibility of welding Mo and Mo alloy sheet by means of a deoxidizing and grain-refining flux in conjunction with the tungsten-inert-gas-shielded electric-arc welding method. Although the results indicate that the method is promising, closer control of the welding variables will be necessary to properly evaluate the method as well as the relative worth of different flux combinations. further work will consist of further evaluations made under controlled conditions and using a standard bending technique.
