TESTS OF SHORT-ARC LAMPS IN FLASH PANELS
Abstract
Photometric tests of several high-wattage shortarc lamps in two fourth- rder (500 mm) flash panel lighthouse lenses are presented. Peak candlepower, horizontal divergence, and vertical divergence are given in 90-degree and 45-degree panels for the followin la ps: GE HILS (formerly H400-E1) 400-watt mercury; Westinghouse SAH 250-A, 250-watt mercury short-arc; Westinghouse SAH 1000-A, 1000-watt mercury short-arc; Westinghouse SAH 2500-A, 2500-watt mercury short-arc; and Westinghouse SAHX 2500-A, 2500watt mercury xenon-arc. In addition, the horizontal candlepower of the SAH 2500-A mercury short-arc lamp was meas red periodically over a pe i d of 288 hours to determine the effect of bulb blackening on lamp intensity.
