IBM 650. PROGRAM FOR TWO-BODY KINEMATICS

Abstract

A program is described for calculating the kinematics of a reaction of the form: particle (1) + particle (2) moves towards particle (3) + particle (4), where particle (2) is at rest in the laboratory. Once the masses of the four particles are specified along with the lab momentum of particle (1), the machine will calculate the total lab energy of particle (1), the velocity of the center of mass, the total energy in the center of mass, the center of mass momentum for the final particles, and the total energies of the final particles in the center of mass system.
