CONTINUOUS GROWTH OF SINGLE CRYSTAL ALUMINUM WIRES FROM THE MELT

Abstract

A vertical floating zone technique substituting a buoyant liqui for the lower support of the specimen has been developed which permits continuous growth o single cr stal aluminum wires from the melt. This technique also permits the growth of single crystal aluminum wires fr m the same melt which possess the same crystall grap ic orientation but vary in diameter. (Author)
