DEVELOPMENT AND MANUFACTURE OF SPECIAL CALIBER .30 ELECTRIC PRIMERS
Abstract
IT APPEARS PROBABLE THAT THE RESIDUE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED THROUGH A COMPROMISE WHICH, WHILE NOT ELIMINATING RESIDUE, HAS REDUCED THE QUANTITY AND CHARACTER OF THE RESIDUE SO THAT IT CANNOT BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN THE ELECTRODES. At this time we cannot say definitely that a charge weight of XP407 priming mixture intermediate to 0.24 gr. and 0.31 gr. will operate the switch reliably and safely. However, if it does not, we can say that some means of holding the switch assembly together more strongly must be found. (Author)
