COMBUSTION OF ELEMENTAL BORON

Abstract

The rate of reaction of B with ClF3 has been investigated over the pressure range 1 to 0.1 atm. The initial indications are that the rate of B consumption per unit area is roughly proportional to the partial pressure of ClF3 at constant total pressure and that a constant mass flow of undiluted ClF3 the rate of reaction is approximately constant over the tenfold pressure range. These data are consistent with the expected diffusion-limited reaction. (Author)
