PROTON MAGNETIC RESONANCE STUDIES OF POLYCRYSTALLINE URANIUM OXIDE HYDRATES. II. BETA-U03H20

Abstract

The broad-line proton magnetic resonance spectra of polycrystalline samples of the compound formulated empirically as beta UO3H2O have been examined in the temperature range 77-370 K. Analysis of the spectrum at 77 K shows that the compound is UO2(OH)2. The inter-relationships between the different phases in the uranium trioxide - water system which involve the betamodifications of the uranium trioxide hydrates are discussed. (Author)
