AUTO-TRIM VTOL FEASIBILITY STUDY

Abstract

The Auto-Trim concept makes use of the wing flap as an aerodynamic servo to change the wing attitude relative to the fuselage during the transition from hovering to forward flight. The system feasibility was established by semi-empirical analytical methods and analyses of static wind tunnel test data. The longitudinal dynamic equations of motion for stability and control characteristics studies were developed.
