THE NOISE OF PARAMETRIC AMPLIFIERS BASED ON SEMICONDUCTOR DIODES AND METHODS OF EFFICIENTLY REDUCING IT

Abstract

The noise characteristics of diode parametric amplifiers are examined. Formulas for the noise factor of single-circuit and two-circuit parametric amplifiers and converting amplifiers are derived. Methods of reducing the noise factor are considered which will make it possible to produce parametric amplifiers with noise characteristics as good as those of masers. The use of parametric amplifiers at the input of superhigh frequency receiving devices makes it possible to raise the limiting sensitivity to the potential limit permitted by the noise level of the antenna.
