A MECHANICAL WAVEGUIDE DEVICE FOR FREQUENCY CONVERSION

Abstract

A mechanical waveguide device for frequency conversion is described. It is based on the use of the doppler effect of a shift in the frequency of electromagnetic waves when they are reflected from moving surfaces; it has the special feature that, in order to increase the value of the frequency shift, it is made in the form of a ring waveguide with square cross section, splitALONG THE NEUTRAL LINE, WITH A FIXED UPPER SECTION AND A MOVABLE LOWER SECTION CONTAINING ONE OR TWO SHORT-CIRCUITED WAVEGUIDES FOR THE FORMATION OF A REVOLVING, REFLECTING, DISCONTINUITY.
