DEVELOPMENT OF EXO-REACTANT INORGANIC ADHESIVE SYSTEM

Abstract

Overlap bonding evaluation of exo-adhesive systems for producing copper base alloy bonds and silver base alloy bonds is reported. The average room temperature lap shear strength using the silver system was 9173 psi; no appreciable change was noted up to 800 F. The minimum lap shear strength noted was 5300 psi. Bend and peel tests indicated considerable ductility. Honeycomb core bonding to skins was achieved, but burnthrough of the thin core cell walls was a major problem. (Author, modified-PL)
