SURFACE WAVE, ANTENNA AND MICROWAVE FILTER ENGINEERING RESEARCH STUDY

Abstract

Study of the two stage branching filter showed excellent agreement between predicted perform-ANCE, CALCULATED FROM THE EQUIVALENT CIRCUIT USED FOR THE DESIGN. The original objective of designing microwave filters using the equivalent circuit technique proposed by Goubau was accomplished. A study of the beam waveguide developed by Goubau was started. T HE VERY SMALL DIFFRACTION LOSS PREDICTED ANALYTICALLY WAS VERIFIED EXPERI ENTALLY. A resonator technique was successful in spite of the resulting high Q's. The radial field distribution in the beam also agreed with analysis. A computer solution for the higher modes on the beam waveguide was o tained. (Author)
