MECHANICAL SYSTEM DESIGN-CRITERIA MANUAL FOR CHLORINE TRIFLUORIDE

Abstract

Criteria for the design and fabrication of a chlorine trifluoride storage facility is presented. Primary consideration is given to the integrity of the storage system, and personnel safety. Properties of chlorine trifluoride affecting the selection, design, and fabrication of s orage facilities are described and discussed. The selection of compatible materials of construction and control equipment are discussed. Procedures for testing, cleaning, and inspecting the storage system, or components thereof, are reported. The reactivation of existing facilities for use with chlorine trifluoride are also discussed.
