DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION OF IMPROVED MOLYBDENUM SHEET BY POWDER METALLURGY TECHNIQUES

Abstract

The processing of 32 rolling slabs from the Mo, Mo-Ti, Mo-T I-C and Mo-Ti-Zr-C sys ems sin ere at 150 C in either H or issociated NH3 is describe . n analysi of the sintering da a is presented. T e si tered properti of a given composition were found to be similar regardless of i tering at ospher The e sity and grain count of Mo and Mo-Ti slabs and of Mo-Ti-C and Mo-Ti-Zr-C slabs were comparable. Carbon additions coarsened the intered structure and lowered the density. The Mo-Ti and Mo-Ti-C slabs rolled satisfactorily. However she t of the latter composition incurred more edge-cracking. Th Mo-Ti- R-C labs failed cata trophic lly. (Author)
