Abstract

O NE PART OF A SERIES IS PRESENTED ON NOTATION, TERMINOLOGY, CONCEPTS AND COMPUTATIO AL PROCEDURES WHICH WERE FOUND USEFUL IN TH APPLICATION OF MATRIX ALGEBRA O MULTIVARIAT XPERIMENT L D SIG IN HE OCI L A D BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES. T HE PRESENTATIO IS DIRECTED TO THOSE WITH NO MORE THAT A MODERATELY GOOD WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN ALGEBRA AND INTRODUCTORY STATISTICS. Traditional and rigorous mathema ical treatment was not an objective. On the other hand, some of the material which has been fou d mos useful in the formulation of experime tal models and the analysis of data matrices i not readily av ilable in the mathematical literature.
