IRREGULAR FRACTIONS OF FACTORIAL EXPERIMENTS
Abstract
The development of fractional plans which consist of irregular fractions of factorial experiments is presented. The plans found to be of greatest practical value are the 3/2 to the M power replicate plans for the 2 to the N power experiment. Although these plans introduce correlations between some of the estimates, the correlations do not affect individual tests on the parameters. Irregular fraction plans often permit the estimation of main effects and two-factor int ractions with fewer trials than is required with a plan which yields uncorrelated estimates of these parameters. The irregular fraction plans permit a simple procedure for obtaining estimates of the main effects and interactions of interest together with estimates of their variances, covariances and correlation coefficients. Examples of 3/2 to the M power replicate plans for the 2 to the N power experiment are presented. (Author)
