SOLID STATE FILTERS, DELAY LINES AND TRANSFORMERS,

Abstract

COMPOSITE FILTERS WITH NI-SPAN C as the center material were built and evaluated. Temperaturefrequency measurements made on the NI SPAN C before and after the material was fabricated into filters demonstrate that composite filters with near zero frequency-temperature coefficient over a 100 C range can be constructed by careful heat treatment of the NI-SPAN C. Examples of multiple element ceramic transformer filters are presented. Cascade filters are much more selective than single element filters and can be designed with shape factors in the order of 1.2 to 2 with three to eight ceramic elements. Mounting investigations of flexural mode filters were continued and preliminary results indicate that magnetostrictive reeds can be mounted on pins at the ends of the nodal lines without adverse effects.
