PRESSURIZED REINFORCED CIRCULAR CYLINDRICAL SHELLS - STRESSES IN ECCENTRIC NON-UNIFORM RINGS WITH TWO UNIFORM SECTIONS OF UNEQUAL LENGTH

Abstract

The numerical results of the solution of the interaction problem of a hydrostatically loaded, infinitely long circular cylindrical shell, reinforced by equally spaced stepwise discontinuous rings, with two uniform sections but different mean radii, indicate high bending stress concentration at the discontinuity. Within the range of the geometric parameters considered, a shifting of posit on of the discontinuity is accompanied by only minor changes in maximum bending stress. (Author)
