SPONTANEOUS DESYNCHRONIZATION IN THE CHRONIC CAT CERVEAU ISOLE

Abstract

Chronic cat cerveau isole preparations began to exhibit periodic, spontaneous desynchrony about a week after transection of the isthmus. Though desynchrony occurred frequently, the greater part of the time was spent in synchrony. Transition from synchrony to desynchrony occurred abruptly, generally after increased spindling. Transitions from desynchrony to synchrony occurred in stages. Chronic olfactory and optic deafferentation did not preclude appearance of desynchrony.
