A SURVEY OF VERTICAL DISPLAY CONTACT ANALOG SYSTEMS

Abstract

THE STATE OF DEVELOPMENT IS DISCUSSED OF VARIOUS VERTICAL DISPLAY SYSTEMS WHICH UTILIZE A CONTACT ANALOG GROUND PLANE PRESENTATION, A PATHWAY OR OTHER FORM OF DIRECTOR, AND VARIOUS SPECIAL SYMBOLS. The objective is the uniform presentation of data to all personnel in the field of information presentation. Information is presented in chart form for the vertical display systems used in the Bell RH-2 research helicopter, the Grumman A2F attack aircraft, the Douglas Aircraft simulator, and the SUBIC submarine programs. There is also a description of work being performed at Johnsville, AIL, with part of the Grumman system installed in an R4Y aircraft. The results, including descriptions of sensors and computers used to drive the vertical display systems, should provide convenient reference. (Author)
