CHEMISTRY OF DECABORANE PHOSPHORUS COMPOUNDS. I. NUCLEOPHILIC SUBSTITUTIONS OF BIS(CHLORODI-PHENYLPHOSPHINE) DECABORANE

Abstract

Bis (chlorodiphenylposphine) decaborane was prepared by the reaction of diphenylchlorophosphine with decaborane and was c emically proven to have e p o p i lig c h , -po itio of B10 !< UNIT. The reaction of B10H12(Ph2PCl)2 with NH3 and primary aliphatic amines in alcohols was found to give nearly quantitative yields of the respective aminocompounds. Th us of eco ary aliphatic amines in alcohols or water, however, led to the replacement of Cl with alkoxy and hydroxy, respectively, resulting in the formation of esters or the acid. T e di-azide was obtai ed by treatment with sodium azide. (Author)
