EMPIRICALLY DETERMINED EFFECTS OF GROSS TERRAIN FEATURES UPON GROUND VISIBILITY FROM LOW-FLYING AIRCRAFT
Abstract
A study is described in which the degree of target obstruction by various types of terrain as seen from various altitudes is empiric esented showing the percentage of terrain that is in view to an observer at various altitudes and showing the probability, as a function of ground range, that a point on the terrain is in veiw. These results can be used in the computation of the over-all visual detection probability of ground targets from aircraft. (A UTHOR)
