TEMPERATURE LIMITATIONS OF THE ESNA 250-MM. LANTERN WITH PLASTIC LENS

Abstract

Tests are described that etermine the maximum wattage lamp that may be used in a 250-mm marine lantern. Tests indicated that under direct summer sunshine in the vicinity of Baltimore, Maryland, the maximum permissive lamp wattages are 75, 150, and 400 watts for steady burning, 50% duty cycle, and 20% duty cycle respectively. These tests modify previous results presented in ASTIA Document AD-256 698. (Author)
