THE FREE FLIGHT STABILITY OF A LIQUID-FILLED SHELL. PART IB. INCOMPRESSIBLE, INVISCID LIQUI; PARTIALLY FILLED, RIGHT CYLINDRICAL CAVITY

Abstract

The line rized differential e uation of yawing motion of non-rolling, s a ically stable shell con aini g a right cylindrical c vity partially filled with an incompressible liquid is derived. The Laplace transform of this equation is shown to lead to an algebraic equation, the roots of which (in the ab ence of aerody mic damping) are purely imagin ry. The liquid aside from altering the inertial properties of the empty shell, affects only the frequency of the motion. There is o co tributio to he damping of the ystem. uthor)
