THE INTERACTION OF POINT DEFECTS AND DISLOCATIONS IN TERMS OF COLOR CENTER PHENOMENA

Abstract

As part of an investigation of the influence of point defects on the high temperature steadystate creep of TiO2, an interesting observation was made relating color centers and dislocations. During a series of high temperature creep experiments positive evidence for the interaction of point defects and dislocations was obtained. The positive evidence is the creation of color centers in the region undergoing plastic deformation. A short description of the observation together with the interpretation of color center phenomena from the literature is presented. (Author)
