FEASIBILITY TEST OF AN UPPER ATMOSPHERE GUN PROBE SYSTEM

Abstract

The feasibility test of an upper atmosphere gun probe system, which employs a smooth bore 120mm gun, and a fin stabilized (non-spinning) 60mm probe, is described. The results obtained from the first and second vertical test series are given (a total of 12 rounds). The present gun probe system is evaluated, and the future prospects for such a system are discussed. (Author)
