ADVANCED INVESTIGATIONS ON THE REQUIREMENTS OF VITAMIN B1 IN DIFFERENT DIETS

Abstract

A paper chromatographical method for the determination of thiamine was proven for its application and usefulness for serial analysis. The method has the advantage of separating thiamine quantitatively from all other fluorescent accompanying substances. By modification, the time of evaluation was greatly reduced. For this reason, however, the sensitiveness formerly being in a range of 0.1 to 1.0 microgram thiochrome, became smaller, the minute measurable limit being now 0.2 microgram. This disadvantage can be compensated by a more thorough concentration of the samples before analysis or by the application of greater volumes to the chromatographic paper. (Author)
