(*Electric discharges, Liquids, Di electrics, Ionization, noitaation, Shock w ve , Pressure.)A short escription is given of he phenomena accompanying a high-voltage discharge in a liquid. This phenomenon CALLED THE ELECTRO YDRAULIC EFFECT BY THE AUTHOR) consists of the fact that, when a specially shaped el ctric pulse discharge is produced inside a liquid, e tremely high pressures arise in t e neighbor ood of the discharge. These high pressures manifest themselves in extremely different ways, as in mechanical destruction of objects in the neighborhoo of the discharge, ejection of liquid, e c I T WAS POSSIBLE TO ESTABLISH EXPERIMENTALLY THE EXISTENCE OF CERTAIN LAWS REGARDING THE NATURE AND RESULTS OF THIS PHENOMENON. T HE POSSIBILITIES OF USING THIS PHENOMENON FOR PRACTICAL PURPOSES WERE DETERMINED IN A GENERAL FORM. A short descriptio of the electrohydraulic effect, the method of study, an the results, as well as discussions on its prospective use are presented. (Author)
