RADIOACTIVE PROPERTIES OF FISSION-FRAGMENT PREPARATIONS

Abstract

IN CONNECTION WITH THE DIFFICULTY OF THEIR OBTAINMENT AND THE HIGH COST OF THE SOURCES OF IONIZING RADIATIONS FROM SEPARATE FISSIONFRAGMENT ISOTOPES, IT IS EXPEDIENT TO EXAMINE THE POSSIBILITY OF USING SOURCES FROM UNSEPARATED MIXTURES OF URANIUM FISSION PRODUCTS. Calculated and experimental data are presented concerning the change with time of energy and the intensity of the total, and also beta-mixtures. It is pointed out, that the average energy of betaactive isotopes reach the maximum with 2-yr fragments, but gamma-active isotopes with fragments 2 to 6 mo old. (Author)
