BUILDING BLOCK STUDY

Abstract

Effort was concentrated on preparing a tubulation of data defining the technical requirements for the field maintenance testing of standard tactical signal equipment in current field-army use. On the basis of experience gained earlier, it was recognized that the task would require the development of a systematic technique for extracting data rapidly from many maintenance manuals in a form suitable for correlation and analysis, and that EAM (electricaccounting-machine) techniques should be utilized. The development of procedures and techniques, particularly the techniques for tabulating the data on test requirements, have proved to be more complex than expected. Although general concepts were developed early, extensive debugging of the system was required so that consistent data could be obtained; thus, progress in actual tabulation was slow. However, the procedure was completely defined; and fullscale tabulation work was started. (Author)
