Research and Development in Programming Study Assignments

Abstract

A single programming language is described, though it has from the programmer's point of view three forms. The forms are: (1) an algebraic language, viz ALGOL; (2) a symbolic machine-like coding language, like TASS; (3) a symbolic list processing language, like Threaded Lists. The three are described as one language, 20 L, using the same syntax description, in Part I. There is only one processor, 20 P, described in Part II. The design of the processor is described in terms of actions taken at various phases of the translation process.
