A STUDY OF THE FAR INFRARED PROPERTIES OF CRYSTALS

Abstract

Tables are presented giving the Coulomb terms for each different wave number for the f. c. c. alkali halide crystal for a subdivision of 24 in wave number space. hese Coulomb terms are independent of the masses and interionic separation for gen ral use. When the constants appropriate to a particular l ttice are u ed and repul ive terms added, to eigenfrequencies and eigenvectors c n be compu ed from whic t e optical properties in the far infrared can b obtained.
