NON-LINEAR TECHNIQUES IN ANTENNA THEORY

Abstract

Efforts were made to prove that certain nonlinear operations performed on the signals derived from various simple receiving antenna elements have the effect of producing effective antenna patterns equivalent to those derived from ordinary (linearly-proces ed or at most squarelaw detected) receiving antenna systems, whose aperture length and element number xceeds that of our antenn proper by a significant ra io. The polynomial experiment provide the most striking (if imperfect) verification of this proposition. Many experiments have suggested themselves and so e are described.
