EVALUATION OF THE RETRAINING PROGRAM
Abstract
The emphasis of the present study has been to gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative information on the progress of restorees from the Retraining Group six months following restoration. The hypothesis of the study is that a follow-up analysis of important restoration outcomes is a logical place at which to begin an evaluation of the effectiveness of the Air Force's rehabilitation effort. Evaluative criteria established for the study include: retrainee dispositions; rates of successful restoration; squadron commander ratings on usefulness and performance of duty of restorees; skill level gains; rank improvement; and career field representation. Previous studies in this continuing series indicate that the Retraining Program has an amazingly high performance record, both quantitatively and qualitatively, compared with other military and civilian correctional institutions.
