SCATTERING OF K(-)MESONS BY NUCLEI.

Abstract

A K-meson colliding with a proton may (1) scatter elastically, (2) scatter with charge exchange, or (3) undergo one of several inelastic reactions with production of a hyperon and one or two pions. Experiments to measure the cross sections for these processes were carried out using a hydrogen bubble chamber and using nuclear emulsions. Possible reactions are shown in Table I with some of the experimentally determined cross sections. (Author)
