A CIRCUIT MODEL FOR A SILICON MESA TRANSISTOR

Abstract

A study is presented o the b havior of t e me a ransistor as the active component in a video amplifier. The drift pote tial across the base was found; and the internal parameters of the transistor based on the one di ensional analysis were obtained by solving the continuity equation. Simple calculations of the parameters were made and used, together with the knowledge of th phy ic l dimensio s o ev lop the equivalent circuit. The method of measurements of the parameters is discussed, then follow the actual measurements, ich are compared w erever possible, with the calculated values. The equivalent circuit and he easured parameters were finally used in a simple video amplifier circuit. From the calculated and measured response of the amplifier, the equivalent circuit of the mesa tr nsistor wa simplified and found to be similar to that of a normal transistor. (Author)
