ON THE RADIATION IMPEDANCE OF UNDERWATER CAVITY-TYPE SQUIRTING TRANSDUCERS

Abstract

The tin-walled ring cavity with soft bottom which constitutes a squirter-t unwater sound generator is replaced by a geometrical model consisting of an austicy hard oblate spheroid with an axial cylindrical cavity, the bottomwhs sure released. The boundary value problems for the existence of acoustic waves in the interior and in the exterior of the spheroid are separately considerd anthe 2 solutions are made equal at the surface joining the 2 regions. The result is an infinite set of linear simultaneous equations in an infine nu ofnowns, the unknowns being the expansion constants of infinite series whose sums are the pressure (or particle velocity) at the squirter face. Numerical solutns are, however, not attem ted. A general discussion of the results is given. (Author)
