A FORCE-AREA STUDY OF OVOMUCOID FILMS

Abstract

An investigation of the surface chemical behavior of the glycoprotein, ovomucoid, was undertaken. Monomolecular layers of this material were deposited on substra e solutions of ammonium sulfate, the surface concen ration varyi g from 9.7 x 10 to t e 14th power to 2.16 x 10 to the 15th power molecules per film. The forcearea measurements were made on a Wilhelmy film balance. A brief description of the apparatusAND THE OPERATIONAL TECH IQUE IS INCLUDED. (Author)
