AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE HEAT GENERATED DURING TORSIONAL OSCILLATIONS

Abstract

The heat generated during torsional oscillations of round aluminum tubes is reported. Static mechanical data for the material are also presented and a correlation of mechanical and thermal energies is obtained. The experiments demonstrate the necessity of including a coupling effect between the temperature field and the deviatoric components of strain. (Author)
