ACOUSTIC SPIN-WAVE BRANCHES OF A CLASS OF FERRIMAGNETS

Abstract

A smple new method of calclating the energies of long wavelength acoustc magnons in exchangecoupled solis, which have a unique acoustic spin-wave brnch and whih satiy certin explici restictions as to spin orering and crysal symmetry, is exhibited for cases of yttrium iron garnet and magnetie. This method is based on a recent extension of the HolsteinPriakoff spin-wave theory to complex magnetic strutures. Agreement with calcultions is obtained. (Author)
