SYNCHROTRON RADIATION AS THE SOURCE OF THE POLARIZED DECIMETER RADIATION FROM JUPITER

Abstract

Identifiers: Argus.A Stokes par m ter d scrip io i veloped for synchrotron r iation from a group of ultrar lativistic electrons with any pecified distribution of positions, nergies and directions of motion. This description is u ed to study he radiation from a shell of ultrarelativistic electrons trappe in a dipole field. It is found tha the polarization observed for the 1-cm r di io from Jupit r coul be obtained from such shells provided a large number of the electron have relatively flat helices. (Author)
