FUSION WELDING OF BERYLLIUM

Abstract

The standard conditions used for fusion welding of Be are given. Studies of the effects of postheat treatment and fixturing on fusion welds are reported, along with limited studies of miltiplepass welding and fillet welding of Be. The effects of residual impurities on the weldability of Be are discussed relative to the Be filler wire development phase. Drawn Be welding wire was coated with Cu, Ag, Au, Ni, Fe, Co, Sn, Cr, Zn, and Cd; the effects of these coated wires upon the fusion weld properties of Be are described.
