THEORETICAL PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF A CONSTANT VELOCITY MHD GENERATOR FOR COMBUSTION PRODUCTS OF HYDROCARBON AND AIR

Abstract

Calculations are performed along a constant velocity, dc, MHD generator utilizing stoichiometric products of hydrocarbon and air. The gas is assumed to be in thermal equilibrium and representable by a Boltzman distribution so that the degree of ionization can be determined by means of the Saha equation. Variations in pressure, temperature, gaseous electrical conductivity, density, entropy, enthalpy, number density, degree of ionization and electron motion are shown graphically as a function of channel length.
